In many parts of Malawi, access to quality education is still a challenge. Many schools have high enrollment rates but few classes to fit the children. Most resolve into learning under a tree or sub standard structures.
communities have stepped in showing unwavering commitment to their children’s future. Nkhokwe Community began building a classroom block with funds sourced from the community. like any other grassroot initiative, the project faced setbacks due to lack of funding. the vision was clear, but the road to completion was rough.
The uncompleted structure that was built by the community
That is when our organization stepped in, not to take over but to stand beside the community. Inspired by their resilience and commitment, we believed their efforts needed to be supported. Total Community Transformers in partnership with International Project Aid, helped complete the construction of the classroom block. We provided building materials, skilled labor and technical support as well as furnishing the classroom. Together we fished what they started.
The result? a strong permanent and safe classroom block, complete with a roof, well secured windows, doors and fully furnished: ready to welcome learners into a space they can grow, imagine , and thrive.
